Area of concentration: educational processes, languages and technology
The area of concentration articulates, in an interdisciplinary manner, the scientific fields of Education and Language Studies, intersected by their respective technologies and social practices, within a socio-historical and cultural perspective. In this context, a space for research and academic production is created, generating, through such convergence, new possibilities for intervention in the processes of knowledge construction and the education process, aiming to form subjects aware of their political roles and societal position as agents of transformation and change. The object of study in this interdisciplinary area thus comprises theories and practices of education and language as social practice, relying on technologies as mediators of knowledge. Academic activities integrate teaching, research, and outreach, seeking to foster interdisciplinarity among knowledge areas, promote holistic education, and fulfill the program's social commitment.
Within the scope of teaching, this is achieved through the offering of interdisciplinary courses taught by pairs of professors, each representing a different area of expertise. In research, integration occurs through the development of collaborative projects that encompass studies from different thematic axes. In the sphere of outreach, actions are structured to foster closer ties between the university and schools, promoting collaboration among educational networks.

Research Line 1: Education and Society*

Research Line 2: Language and Social Practices
This line discusses the theoretical and methodological foundations of the field of education in dialogue with multiple areas of knowledge and considers technologies as cultural products of humanity. With different epistemological bases, it accommodates research on school and higher education, pedagogical practices and mediation, educational policies, culture and diversity, inclusion, teacher education and professional practice, as well as social movements. t fosters reflection on schools and the cultural diversity present both within them and in society at large, encompassing different modalities of education and educational processes aimed at human development in both formal and non-formal spaces of knowledge production. Accordingly, the research conducted conceives formative institutions as constitutive elements of society, which, in its inequality, requires new perspectives on issues that have been historically constructed, explained, and problematized
This line investigates the multiple forms in which language manifests and operates as a social practice, as well as the technologies mediating these practices. It welcomes research on language practices across different cultures, groups, and individuals; discourses and their modes of textualization; multiple languages and their forms of expression; the operation of language in digital culture; literacy processes; language education; and language teacher education. The educational field is conceived as a privileged locus for research into language practices, functioning as the social space where, through diverse languages, discourses and knowledge are constructed and reconstructed, always oriented toward transformation.
