Mission
The Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Education, Language, and Technologies (PPG-IELT) at the State University of Goiás (UEG) was created in 2012 based on and aligned with institutional policies defined in official documents. Therefore, it adopts the university’s guiding mission (UEG 2023, p. 69) from its Institutional Development Project (PDI):
" To promote the integrated presence of public university teaching, research, and outreach throughout Goiás, fostering the development of higher education professionals committed to sustainable development at the local, regional, and national levels.."
Therefore, PPG-IELT’s consolidated mission is to foster the academic development of faculty and researchers in the interdisciplinary fields of Education and Language Studies, attentive to epistemological and technological innovations, and capable of contributing to social transformation. The program operates across diverse educational contexts in Goiás and the Central-West region, aligned with contemporary demands.
This mission embodies the identity and uniqueness of PPG-IELT, materialized through initiatives aimed at holistic education of program participants as agents of change in diverse environments. The program is aware of its sociopolitical responsibility and seeks to provide quality education that outlines paths and means for transformative processes.
Vision
PPG-IELT envisions providing democratic and inclusive academic environments for faculty and researchers to work across diverse social and educational contexts, especially in Goiás and the wider Central-West region. t promotes the interdisciplinary integration of Education and Language Studies, which are intersected with technologies and social practicesIts educational objectives align with UEG’s vision to:
“Participate in the local and regional development of Goiás as a strategic state public university, through policies, projects, and collaborations with the State, business sector, and organized civil society” (PDI/UEG, 2023-2028, p. 70).
Thus, PPG-IELT adopts a holistic perspective on all individuals engaged in its educational programs. The program is dedicated to broadening horizons and fostering the development of both personal and professional skills, thereby enhancing each participant’s capacity to add value to society. This institutional vision directly informs how PPG-IELT seeks to be perceived and recognized within the broader community. Grounded in its historical trajectory and social commitment, the program stands as a catalyst for human development and knowledge production, aligned with the social demands of our time, particularly in the interdisciplinary spheres of Education and Language Studies, serving as a transformative environment committed to societal progress.
