The State University of Goiás (UEG) takes another important step toward internationalization by hosting, last Tuesday (24), the workshop Fostering Global Academic Partnerships through Interdisciplinary Research. The initiative, organized by the Innovation and Technology Transfer Agency (Inova|UEG) in partnership with the Office of External Relations (Arex|UEG), focused on strengthening international academic partnerships and showcasing research projects developed at the institution.

Organized by Professors Dr. Ivonete Bueno and Dr. Raphaella Christina Costa Gomes, with the support of administrative staff member Elisa Parreira Darim, the event established itself as a space for dialogue and institutional collaboration. According to Prof. Ivonete Bueno, the visit “highlights concrete opportunities for collaboration between the institutions, with the consolidation of joint projects and the strengthening of academic exchanges.” |
The event took place at the auditorium of the Center for Scientific Research and Education (Cepec), located at the Central Campus of Exact and Technological Sciences in Anápolis, bringing together researchers, administrators, and students in a moment of academic and scientific integration. The activity was part of the institutional visit agenda of Professor Dr. Thomas Tyner, Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (USA), the international guest of the event.

“Recognized for his global trajectory, Prof. Dr. Tyner inspired everyone with his openness, approachability, and willingness to share experiences, highlighting concrete opportunities for collaboration between the institutions. UEG’s international future is already under construction, with the consolidation of collaborative projects, the strengthening of exchanges between faculty and students, and this will represent progress toward another strategic and highly relevant international cooperation agreement for UEG,” stated Dr. Ivonete Bueno. |
Also in attendance were UEG’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Antonio Cruvinel; the Pro-Rector for Research and Graduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Cláudio Stacheira; the Pro-Rector for Extension and Student Affairs, Prof. Sandra Mascimo; as well as institute directors, coordinators, administrative staff, and students, underscoring the institutional relevance of the initiative.
During the workshop, UEG researchers and administrators presented research projects, graduate programs, and initiatives focused on innovation and scientific production. Highlights included the work led by Dr. Samantha Caramori (Biology), Dr. Renato Rosseto (Chemistry), and Dr. Anelizabete Alves (Architecture and Urbanism), which demonstrated the scope and quality of research conducted at the university. The presentation of the laboratories of the Center for Research and Graduate Studies (CPPG) was delivered by Prof. Dr. Olacir Araújo, from the Center for Analysis, Innovation, and Technology in Natural and Applied Sciences (Caitec).
Prof. Thomas Tyner emphasized the excellence of the projects presented and highlighted the potential for expanding academic partnerships between the institutions. The identified areas of convergence include environment, water resources, solar energy, biodiversity, agriculture, agricultural engineering, technology, and innovation, pointing to promising paths for international cooperation.
Professor Raphaella Gomes emphasized that the initiative reaffirms UEG’s commitment to academic quality, innovation, and the development of solutions aligned with contemporary global challenges, projecting the university into an increasingly internationalized landscape.
